This was taken last night during the Santa Bus trip down Oxford St.

Our friend’s stepfather (R) owns an old RT bus, rather like the one he used to drive in the 1960s. He has lovingly restored the bus to its former glory, and every year takes a group of friendsandrelations (and their children) on a trip from Dartford to London to look at the Christmas lights. R dresses up as Father Christmas to drive the bus, which means we get plenty of attention. At the end of the trip, he hands out presents for all the children, and then he drives us home.

The kids absolutely love it, even the big ones, and the parents have a pretty good time with the onboard supplies of mulled wine mince pies.

The Oxford St lights were a bit meh, but the Regent St ones were fabulous, like something out of a 60s sci fi movie. I couldn’t get a picture of those, but.

Murder house update. Finally, the South London Press ran a front-page lead in the Friday edition. A young woman went to look at the flat in question on Monday, and found the body of a man at the entrance to the flat. I think the man is one of the ‘gatecrashers’ that wandered into a neighbourhood party with his partner. He’s a fairly well-known local alcoholic, though people just left him and his missus to it…

Three men and a woman have been arrested in relation to the crime.
